Go git 'em, Peanut!!!

This weekend is the Missouri Youth Hunt. Cowboy and Peanut spent the night here at the Compound last night so they could get in that extra hour or so of sleep and not have to drive up from Pin Hook. I got up, made coffee and found some fruit bars to snack on in the stand. They got out of the house on the way to the back gate stand about 15 minutes ago. Legal shooting time starts in roughly fifteen minutes, so she might get lucky today.

Thanks to some expert coaching from Boss Hoss and JackNCoke, this young lady can handle that rifle like a pro. Until I put the photos up I did not notice that wide white tee shirt hem sticking out from her camo.....no problem, though. They will be enclosed in a two man "buddy stand" with a full skirt around it.

Unfortunately, the wind was blowing so hard yesterday morning that we were not out there for long. It never did die down yesterday and this morning is even worse. I am still hoping it will lay down sometime today so I can get her back out to the woods for a shot to fill the tag. If not, She can still use it during the regular season.

I cant get her to sit in the stand for more than 90 minutes. The wind started to lay down yesterday afternoon so we decided to go. On the way to the compound (about 1:45pm) we had a 6 pointer standing in the middle of CWs road looking at us. He was at the south end of his road and heading east. That gave me great hope that she would get one because that proved they were moving. We get in the stand about 2. Its windy in the stand but the grass and ground level branches arent blowing as hard. We were in the northwest corner of the property. By 3:30 we were heading back to the house because she was done.
She thought I was mad but I told her I wasnt. Just frustrated because I was so excited for her to get one. Bill, Chuck, Lynn and I put a decent amount of time and effort into getting her ready. Just upsetting but not mad. I guess I still have a chance of her getting one during firearms season

Hour and a half She lasted better than Clay did the first time. He lasted about 1/2 hour or so. Young ones haven't learned to wait and it will come yet. You have to expect them to not want to stay very long. She did real well .
