On my way to the darkside

Got a jack last week and the wheel off my bike yesterday. I tried to get the tire off but couldn't break the bead and decided not to resort to the sawzall, so Dewayne removed the tire with his tire machine. Couldn't find the 5200 at Lowes or Home Depot so I called Ron and he hooked me up with that! Should have the new valve stem tomorrow and it'll take a few days to seal the spokes and hopefully be able to order the tire soon. As long as my bike is down there should be good ridin weather for the rest of ya so I feel I'm doin some good here!!!

I have in mind putting a 5.0X16 on the YelloWing this year. There's an outfit in St.Louis, jihreh is the name I believe, that have the old style Harley tires. About $120 will get one.

I am enjoying mine, don't think OO has spent much time on her since we got the new tire though, since he laid it down on the way over to Dewaynes to put it on:ranting:

The Lil' Vulcan cries out for Dark Side tire on the back, so when the regular tire expires, I will be putting a fat 15" automotive tire on.

I'd love to go darkside on both my wings, but have never found a tire that would fit. I checked the site MoMike mentioned, but couldn't find anything there either. Mohammer has a tire that I think will work on the 82, but it cost $300 delivered. It's a 5.00x16 for a sports car. I also think the Austone Taxi tire might fit.

I put balance beads (bought at Genes also) in my front tire from day one. Only after I took them out and it was better. I've ran with and without the beads in the same tires mounted on the wheel in the same location and I've came to the conclusion run without them and add only if you have a problem. I wouldn't bet on adding them will be any better but at least its easy, inexpensive and quick if it helps. I also noticed the inner lining of the tire looked weird like it was scuffing away the inner liner of the tire and the white beads came out black. I took them out of my back tire and they came out nice and white just like when I put them in. However I didn't notice any damage to the inside liner of that tire. I'm not sold on them but i bet the manufacturers of those things will love ya.
I now have a static balancer and have had good results with the last tire I balanced.

jirehcycles.com had both whitewalls and blackwalls in two different styles of tread, both in 5.0x16(130/90-16). Cost was 120-140 depending on style and wall. They will send a CD catalog to anyone who wants one, but all their stuff was shown on a website too.

Ok, I found it this time. I've got a couple tires in stock I need to wear out first, then it'll be time to go darkside.

Got the Austone on the bike today, the only part I hadn't thought about rubbin was the brace that goes around the tire and connects the left and right saddlebag brackets! Took it off and rode to dad's and got a piece of metal to modify it, I'll weld it back together and put it back on tomorrow. Other than that part the clearance is about the same as the Metzler.
Dewayne balanced the tire perfectly so we didn't use the beads, tire rides great!!! The gravel road is much better with the tire and the new fork oil. I'm extremely pleased with the results, thanks again to Dewayne, Ron, Dave and all who helped out!!!!!!!!!

Since it is a "taxi" tire I broke it in right by haulen Pee Wee around on the first ride!!!:rofl::rofl:
