Went to Schell this morning with LB and my boy. Killed 7 ducks ( mallards, wood duck and teal) Not too bad but the action shut off pretty early by about 9am.

Anyone else been out?

I tried the geese in KS this AM without success.
It's pretty early still for down here. Did you see a lot of mallards? I drove around awhile after goose hunting, and didn't see a duck.

bullitt,

Actually for this time of year I think we saw a lot of mallards. Saw probably 50% mallards, 25% teal,15% wood ducks and maybe 10% pintails. Saw a pretty good bit of ducks early but they petered off by about 9am.

Cool. Glad you had a good hunt. I have never done much good up there, but I know a lot of duck die from someone's hand. Just not mine!

I used my new X-lander layout blind today for the first time. I really think I'm going to like it. I got the one that is plain brown, rather than a camo pattern. I was hunting disced corn stubble, and it was all but invisible. I don't know why I really care though, when I have a shiny black dog laying beside it! No geese, but it was a good shakedown run, and Izzie didn't whine about my calling!
