is it legal to shoot them at any time? guess there is a huge one down at the lake subdivision & already has killed a dog. Wish I knew how to shoot a gun.

Speaking of "huge coyotes" has anyone on here seen or heard of wolves in Mo or Ark? A friend of mine and I were turkey hunting a couple weeks ago and he watched what he described as a "huge coyote" walk within 20 yds of him. He is from north Mo and is used to seeing coyotes in the 40 to 50 lb range. Biggest I ever shot in north mo was 55 lbs. The ones I have seen in the southwest part of mo would be lucky to get in the 30 to 40 lb range. Since the wolf population has really increased in the northern states and since we have an abundant food supply, it would be reasonable to assume that at some time we are going to have wolves migrating here looking for new territories without competion. Would be interested in any reports even if they are second hand.

crazy1,

If a coyote definitely killed the dog, you are protected in taking it out as a nuisance animal. Someone should contact the local warden first so he or she is aware of the problem.

I saw a wolf in NWMO(Gentry Co), but that was over 40 years ago. The lions are wandering back in, I don't know why wolves wouldn't.

When we moved to Stockton there were hogs all around the lake. It has been at least a couple of years since I have heard any reports of any.

They were thick down here in the steep hills forest, but they have all but disappeared. I know they were hunted heavily and alot of guys got real serious about their hog hunting. They even started breeding "hog dogs".....I don't know how to spell it, but it's kind of like, "catawhoola".....lol
