Tough time last week, but some fish

I camped at Cedar Ridge last week and fished mostly between there and the State Park. Man, the first day I caught nothing, and that included trolling multiple lines at depths to 30 feet. A wide range of crank baits; that usually gets me some fish, at least some nice crappies but no go this time. Figured I'd run minnows deep along structure, but both places I bought minnows flamed out on me. They were lively in the live well but died really fast after hooked. So, then I went with crawlers, using half and running those straight down or on slip bobbers in 18-30 feet. Thought I might get some nice blue gills and I did! Also picked up a walleye here and there and brought four of them home. One a 20 incher. I tried trolling again just before leaving and again did poorly. Wish the minnows would have worked; other guys said theirs stayed alive on the hook. Someone said the other arm of the lake, below hyw 215, is better for walleye. Any comments?
