Fishing deep ? (1 reply)

Would anyone be willing to share some tips on fishing deep 25-50ft ---opinions about doing this on Stockton. We have ran some planer boards and we have ran the down rigger a few times and honestly we have never gone deeper than 25ft, but it would seem that some bigger fish might hold a little deeper (river channel) and thinking this is untapped for the most part. Regardless we will probably try it out to see how it works but wanted to see if I can spur some discussion and get some tips.

There is a little restaurant up in the near Fallsville, AR that is celebrating their one year anniversary this weekend. Just so happens my cousin's bluegrass band is playing with one other. The music is from 10 till 2, and there is all kinds of food as well. Lynne and I will be at Casey's at 14 and 65 at 8:30 with KSU at 8:45, with plans to be back in Springfield by 4:30. This is only about a 200 mile round trip, but we are allowing for a about 3 hours of just hanging around listening to some good music. This is a great ride up 43 and 21 out of Harrison.
Anyone that wants to join us is welcome. Just bring a chair or a blanket to sit on.

Short Notice Unofficial Mission in Lebanon Fri May 18 (no replies)

Hi all,

The "Remembering Our Fallen" pictorial memorial will be on display at the Kenneth E. Cowan Civic Center, 500 E. Elm Street, in Lebanon through May 22. The display honors 136 Missourians who have been killed in the line of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan during the War on Terror. The display, which is sponsored by the Friends of the Fort, will be on display from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with the exception of Sunday when the Civic Center is closed. I have been invited to a community ceremony opening the display at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 18 and would like as many PGRs that are free to join me.

Please note: Lebanon lost one of those honored in this memorial: Army Specialist James Finley, KIA on May 31, 2008, in Afghanistan by an IED. When the PGR was invited to honor Spc. Finley on June 6, 2008 for his funeral, about 100 PGRs showed up stand a flag line at the church, then escorted his cortege though Lebanon to his final resting place. The route was packed with mourners, and every business was closed along the way in a truly moving display of small-town patriotism and honor to its fallen hero and his family. As a lasting tribute to Spc. Finley's sacrifice, the I-44 exit 127 is named in his honor.

For those that can attend, fly your flags in honor of all those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Here's the schedule:

Stage: 10:00, Friday, May 25 at the Civic Center, 500 E. Elm, Lebanon
Briefing: 10:20
Flag Line: 10:30 to 11:00, 20 flags will be available
11:00 to 12:00 attend ceremony

Frank Rhinehart
Phillipsburg, MO

PS: As noted in the subject line, this is not an official PGR mission, thus it is not posted on the PGR website.

Got this email from Frank Rhinehart, Springfield Senior Ride Captain, this morning. I plan on riding over for the ceremony. If anyone wants to ride along, I will be passing through Buffalo and take 32 all the way to Lebanon.
I will be coming through Buffalo about 9 a.m. and can meet any riders at the Signal Station at 32 and 65.
CW

side note: when this Memorial Wall was transported from Monett to Sedalia, the Springfield PGR riders took the handoff from Rolling Thunder and two State Trooper motorcycle officers when they rolled into Buffalo. We then took it to Sedalia where it was set up for display. This is a wall of photographs of Missouri military members who have been killed in the line of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. It was really touching to be able to put a large photograph of the service member with their mission we attended. If you are out and about on your bikes, you might consider going by the Civic Center in Lebanon and viewing this unique tribute to those who have given their lives for this country.

I gave him a call and he said he was meeting up with
Cliff, Shawn and Lisle. They had bought tickets months ago and wanted to use them up. So I met up with
Chuck in Bolivar and we headed to Springfield and met up with Cliff for breakfast. We then proceeded down to the zip lines
and met up with Shawn and Lisle.

This wasn't one of those big long fast moving zip lines but it was still a thrill. Jumping off the first tower was our first step toward the unknown.
There was a young girl on the tower with us and she put us to shame. I think most of us are ready for one of the bigger and faster rides now.

From there Shawn took us over to the Copper Run Distillery. Was tempted to buy a bottle of there moonshine but passed it up.

Kay was headed home from Arkansas so we got to meet up with her at Lambert's. We had a great meal but don't let Shawn catch the
rolls for you. He will miss every time. lol

We missed the rain but we did have to travel some wet highway.

Here is a short slide video of our ride. Chuck and Lisle took more pictures and will add them to the video if they are willing to share.

http://youtu.be/e2jjf-bEmIk

trip report (1 reply)

Went down Saturday am cloudy starting off with a slight delay --waiting on one of the guys who woke up late--we trolled a little in the vicinity of the ramp and although we didn't hook up we saw plenty of bass tearing up bait in the bushes. So we get started on a bluff end and figured we would work it to the end point. We hooked up 3 times along there trolling crank baits. Since it was the first trip we had some cob webs to dust out--like someone grabbing the net when someone hooks up. Anyway we lost one keeper at the boat. The bite was fairly consistent on the points and just inside the points in about 17' of water. When the sun broke through late in the morning the bite slowed considerably and the fish we were marking had moved off deeper. We hooked 12 fish and came home with 8 keepers. Although I don't consider myself a walleye guru we have been at it for 8 years and today was one of the better "first trips" out. Color wasn't an issue. We tried crawler harnesses for a couple of hours and only had two fish off of those. Some of the bass fishermen had caught some walleye on jigs near brush piles. Headed back down for memorial day and hoping it is NOT 100 degrees out.

Sierras poker run last sunday (2 replies)

Thank you all if you came on the run or if you even told someone about it. It was a great time little warm in the expo building but made alot of friends there and raised about 5000.00 for the family of Sierra. I had to wear a bib and diaper to get 1350.00 of that but was well worth it. I got no shame in my game we only live once and from this we can see that sometimes its only 12 yrs to play on this earth like with Sierra. I hope we can all take the time we have and enjoy life to the fullest. Those of you that would like to ride with us please get ahold of me and we can work out some rides. I am new to the forum and hope that it stays online after reading some of the post. Amy and I take life a little different we try to hug everyone we know when coming and going because we may never see our friends and family again. We all know the hurt of not being able to talk or say something you wanted to say before its to late. THANK YOU AGAIN SEE YA HARRY

I really liked it.
I made it to Cassville then took 37 to 62 winding up in Eureka Springs. While there I grabbed a quick bite to eat as storm clouds start building.
I thought I could beat the storm so high tailing it up 23, I ran smack dab in the middle of that rain cloud. And without a windshield, I felt like a drowned rat.
Once out of the rain I quickly dried and enjoyed the rest of the ride back home.
Here are a few of the interesting things I saw.
