It's Not Good To Lie to the DA's office (1 reply)

It's no secret that many of us on this forum came here as a result of being kicked off the old forum by the founder of that forum. It's also a matter of public postings that three of us were accused of stealing a motorcycle, falsely as it turns out, and we were called people of low morals by that same founder. It is also a matter of public record on both the Missouri Case.net site and the Bolivar Herald Free Press that this same founder was the subject of a criminal action arrest warrant, but somehow cut a deal with one of the assistant prosecuting attornies here in Polk County and that arrest warrant was withdrawn on a Friday afternoon so that it would attract the minimal amount of attention. I went to the preliminary arraignment where the founder/criminal action defendant failed to show and the arraignment was postponed until Sep. 22nd. The latest entries on the case docket now say that the founder of the old forum has failed to meet the commitments he agreed to in order to get the original arrest warrant rescinded, and APA David Parks has re-issued the warrant with a $500 cash only bond for bail. I don't have much experience with the legal system, never been a cop, and never represented myself as one (unlike the founder), but it seems to me that you can lie your way out of a jam only so many times. When you lie to the ADA and don't do what you promise to do, that's not very bright.
Maybe.....just maybe......the founder is about to get what's been coming to him for a long time.
CW

Old Wing is on the road to recovery!!!!!! (no replies)

Spent most of the day at MoMike's. When I arrived he had already pretty well stripped down the Iowa Wing, so we were able to remove the last few cables and wires, then lowered the engine a bit and wiggled it out of the frame. While MoMike was cleaning the old crud off the top of the engine case, I went to work removing stuff so we could pull the toasted engine from Old Wing. It took some planning, but we were able to get the engine out with the carbs still on the bike, and we didn't have to drop the rear tire to remove the driveshaft. By 4:30 we had pulled the new cam belts from the fried engine and transferred them over to the Iowa engine, swapped out the thermostat sending unit and generally had the new motor ready to put in tomorrow morning. The plugs from OldWing were nice chocolate brown on the insulators, so the fuel/air mix of the carbs is righ. Also, no oil on them, so the rattling is not from a broken ring.
Mike said he was probably going to take the entire front end of the Iowa Wing and put it on his 76 Yellow Wing. If he does, it will look sharp.
Hopefully we will have the beast all buttoned up by noon tomorrow and it will be on the road for Bike Nite.....Yeeeeeeee Haaaaaaa!
DON'T FORGET.....SONS OF ANARCHY TONITE AT 9 CENTRAL. RERUN LATER...PROBABLY 11.
CW

This will take place at a very nice resort where he works. Reception will be outside with food and alcoholic beverages. It will also be casual dress (leathers). Some of you met Brian & Della at some of our rallys helping in our tent. You are all invited to be at this event and see CW in action performing his first marriage. Now you all know this is going to be a site to see! And yes, it is legal. He'll just have to go to our local court clerk and pay his $25 to register in Oklahoma, which I'm sure I can cover for him.

Candlewick Cove

http://candlewyckcove.com/index.html

As you all now know, we are losing Dave Bierman to the great frozen north because that's where the job and paycheck are. Dave has been my strong right hand as ride leader and as the first moderator of the riding forums. Dave will keep up with what's going on down here as time permits from New Hampshire, and will retain his moderator status. But Dave won't always be around, and now that the MOPosse has been given the OK by the Galloping Gooses, I may not always be around, so after giving this matter some serious thought, I asked one of the steadiest, most reliable and even tempered people I have ever met to consider becoming a co-moderator along with Dave. I got the hoped for answer back tonight, so as of about five minutes ago you guys now have our own
JackNCoke watching our back. She has been with the forum since day one, knows all of you and vice versa, and although I don't expect any problems from the members we have, should she actually have to exercise the authority she now has, I back my moderators 100%.....she can actually moderate my posts, so maybe I will have to stop all those JackNCoke stories.... For the record, any one of you would make a good moderator, but as you all know I am a big believer in loyalty and Lynn has that in spades. Congratulations to her for accepting the offer.
CW

Good twisties and such. The town of Hermann is only a 20 minute ride from here. They always put on a nice fest every weekend.
If there is enough interest, we could also do a 2 day ride if anyone wanted. It's cooled down quite a bit, so they should have a full menu available.
I talked to Big John yesterday and he said he would be there. I think Mad Dog is out in the Four Corners area on a ride with some of his buddies, so he won't be in attendance. Unlike most of the pizzas and hot sandwiches you get at other places, the ones that Glen turns out are stuffed to the max with ingredients.
Just ask MoMike , JackNCoke, or Boss Hoss....serious food for the hungry biker. Last time I talked to Glen he said he was going to have a full band for the reopening of bike nite, so as much as I love Bob Dylan, it will be rockin' over there Wed night. Hope to see some of you there. If you come solo, I'm giving you a heads up....do NOT order a medium pizza and think you will eat it all......ain't gonna happen. Last time over, the old lady and I split a small 12" pizza and brought several slices home to eat for lunch the next day. The above does not apply to Big John.
CW

September Group Rides (24 replies)

With the break in the oppressive heat and humidity of August, we have some fantastic riding weather ahead for the next two or three months. Looking at September, I was thinking we could get in at least two group rides. We have not been "north" in a while, so I have asked my fellow man of the cloth, the Right Reverend Redneck Rider to set us up a scenic ride up around Lake of the Ozarks the weekend of the 25th or 26th (no calendar in front of me, so that might be a day off one way or the other). On this ride we will pass the hat and those who would like to help support Lilbit's efforts to help Sherry's Hope for Others can do so and whatever goes in the hat, goes to Lilbit to pass on. As things stand right now we'' meet up in Buffalo on either Saturday or Sunday morning, ride to Lebanon and meet up with Lil'bit, then head up to meet RNR at Camdenton for the scenic part of the ride. I'm reasonably certain that he can find a place to eat along the way.
The second chance for a single day ride is the end of the month when BBBBQ opens up down in Fayetteville. I originally was thinking about going down and camping overnite, but I've been leaving the old lady at home to take care of the goats a bit too much and I probably should make a down and back trip. For those who want to go down for this huge rally and get back the same day, I will put together a ride leaving out of Springfield early on Saturday morning and getting back about dark.Meeting up with anybody down there is going to be very difficult with 200,000+ bikers crammed into six or so city blocks. It's wall to wall and shoulder to shoulder, but you will see more "stuff" there than just about anywhere. Finding a place to park the bikes will be a challenge, but last year we got lucky and found an open street about three blocks above the action. Maybe the parking gods will smile on us again this year.
OK....that's what is on tap for this month. Anybody wants to add to, modify, or change anything, feel free....the floor is open.
CW

Apres-Lambert's run yesterday (3 replies)

After Ms Pinky made a convert to trike out of Gloria and we said our goodbyes, we went down to Forsythe and just a little south of Kisse Mills. We were scheduled to pick up three pigmy goats because the owners are getting out of the goats as pets business. Earlier in the year when we went down I had to drive around the long way to get to their house because the main road in was completely under water from floods on Bull Shoals. This year we went the short way and found a road that we just HAVE to ride one of these days. Naturally the road did not go where I thought it did and we got "turned around". Fortunately we pulled over and saw a nice lady out in her garden, so I asked her how to get to where I wanted to go. We were only half a mile or so away from the old "long way around" road we took back in the winter, so we arrived at the mini-zoo on time. They gave us the three goats, including a 16 year old nanny who is the mother of many of the pigmy goats at Silver Dollar City, and two six year old nannies who are the mothers of two of the babies we got back in the winter. If anyone is interested, they have two minature donkeys and they are going to part with them. The donkeys are quite civilized and love to be petted....
We got the goats loaded up in the back of the Explorer and headed home. On the way we stopped at a convenience store for a cold soda and parked next to a beautiful Fat Boy Harley. The woman on the back went bonkers when she realized we had little goats in the back of our SUV. We got home just as it started getting to be sun down time, and we put the goats out with our herd. They made up pretty quickly and even went inside to go to bed with the others , so it was a painless transition. Today the 16 year old and our Alpine will have to work out who will be the matriarch of the herd. Both are used to being the boss, so this should be very interesting.
CW

Cardo Systems (4 replies)

Don't know if any of you have these. Copied from a VTX post:

Title: Cardo Systems DOES NOT support their communications products

To you riders out there - Please heed this warning. You have a vendor out there • Cardo Systems • that does not support their products. If you have a defective unit with a battery problem, you might as well trash it.

I have been attempting to get one of the Q2 paired units I have repaired now for almost 6 months. I can not get it done. I have an approximately $300.00 useless lump in my desk drawer. I get the automated response shown below when I contact them through their support email.

Thank you for contacting the Cardo Systems Support Center.

Cardo Systems will soon be announcing a scala-rider Battery Replacement Program for headsets outside of the 1 year manufacturer’s warranty period and requiring a battery replacement.

Please share your contact information so we may contact you once the program is launched.

Please feel free to contact us if we can assist you with any other questions.

Best Regards
It is nice - well worded and promising. It just doesn't help - neither have the 3 phone calls I have made.

The fact is I have a product that doesn't work and is worthless to me and Cardo doesn't really seem to care. I have provided my information, 3 times now and I still have a communications system that does not function.

My experiences with vendors in the bike world for the last 2+ years have been about 99.9% positive. They break their backs to makes things right if there is a problem. This is certainly not the case of Cardo systems. There are alternatives out there, I advise you to use them.

For all of the good things ( in many posts ) I have said about my Cardo units, I just cannot go without posting the facts about the problems I am having with them.

This is just too much money to me and I suspect other riders out there to just let go and not be reported. Use Cardo Systems products at your own risk.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

This is the second time I have posted about this problem and this company. This second post is because of the way I was just talked to on the phone by Cardo Customer Service (boy - talk about a misnomer).

I called and explained the situation concerning my Cardo Q2 unit that the battery has gone bad.

The A$$hole that I talked to basically treated me like an annoyance. After I explained all of the steps I had gone through his arrogant response was "how do YOU know it is the battery?" Because that is what your tech department said it was I told him.

We don't replace batteries. Units are sealed and if the battery goes bad you are just out of luck. You replace the battery by replacing the unit. The prick said "you don't have to replace both units just one".

How much is that ?

$219.00 for a single unit.
My response was so I get to buy a $219.00 battery.

If that is the way you want to look at it I suppose so but we don't see it like that - we just don't replace the batteries.
Where on your website is this stated that batteries are not replaced if they go bad and there is no repair or replacement path if it is out of warranty? No response. I now have a 300.00+ product that is just over 1 year old that you will not fix or replace.

That is the way it is - we don't replace batteries.
When is the program to replace the batteries going to be started?

We don't know, trying to figure that out.
I asked for an approximate date and the response I got (which was a long pause) really leads me to believe that date does not and will not exist.

So if you want the possiblility of some real expensive good for nothing units on your hands, purchase a Cardo product. You can lose $300.00 plus over a $2.00 battery. Do you want to risk it ?

I can guarantee this company cares nothing about you but getting your money.

Please - if you are a member of any sites where the purchase of this product is a possibility - place a link to this post. People need to be aware of jerks like this.... Thanks for helping protect fellow riders and consumers.

I called him up and told him whats up and of course hes all apologetic. I asked what we were gonna do about it and said "well, I do have a key to the store" so we met over there and swapped out. Of course Cowboy headed down to Lamberts to meet up with everyone. I was gonna wait til he got back but I'm not that kind of person. I had to put it back together myself. Flooded her out and let her sit for about 5 minutes then hit the key and she fired right up. Now if my luck keeps running good this week I can get the Succubus back running when I get my heads back from PMI.
